Google has released the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, a foldable smartphone that maintains the design of its predecessor but introduces several refinements. The new model is lighter, with a 19-gram reduction, and boasts a brighter display at 3,600 nits, up from 3,000 nits. The device also features better wireless charging and an updated camera sensor, along with a new olive color option. However, the visible crease on the screen remains a notable drawback, especially when compared to competitors like Oppo and Honor.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is 5mm thick when unfolded and 10.1mm when folded, making it slightly thinner than last year’s model. Google claims the device is three times more durable, thanks to a new glass-ceramic cover and a glass-fiber composite back. Despite these improvements, the hinge design prevents one-handed unfolding, which may be inconvenient for some users.

Software-wise, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold supports multitasking with two apps side by side, though not all apps are optimized for the foldable format. The Gemini updates this year were minimal, focusing on features like Magic Cue for timely suggestions. The camera setup, while competent, falls short of the Pixel 11 Pro XL’s performance, with only minor upgrades to the main sensor and Super Res Zoom.

Priced at $1,899, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold competes with the iPhone Duo and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. With upcoming foldables from Xiaomi and Honor in Europe, Google faces significant competition in the market.
