Google's Pixel Phone Launch Event Trades Innovation for Entertainment

Google's upcoming Pixel phones are set to be unveiled in a launch event that is more focused on entertainment than innovation. The company has invited Trevor Noah, comedian and host of The Daily Show, to lead a lineup of celebrities including basketball star Stephen Curry and DJ Peggy Gou.

The event will likely follow the same format as last year's Made by Google event, which was hosted by Jimmy Fallon and aired an hour after the phones were revealed. While the launch event is expected to start at 6PM ET, the Google Store's preorder countdown has already ended, giving away some of the surprises.

For Pixel power users, there won't be much new in terms of design or features. Leaks have already revealed that the Pixel 11 Pro will include a notification light built into the camera island. This feature was once a staple of Google's Nexus phones and is now making a comeback.
