Google's Pixel Pro Models Throttle Screen Resolution by Default
Google's Pixel Pro models have been found to throttle their screen resolution by default, restricting them to 1080p or FHD+ instead of their native QHD+ output.
This measure is intended to conserve power and prevent the phone from slowing down, but it comes at the cost of reduced display sharpness.
Jade Bryan, a tech reviewer with over a decade of experience, decided to test running his Pixel 9 Pro XL at its maximum resolution to see if the extra pixels justified the battery consumption.
He found that while the phone's battery life was indeed affected, the real-world gains were minimal, and he preferred the added crispness and sharpness provided by the higher resolution.
