A special rate contract between Entergy and Google has raised concerns among regulators in Arkansas. The deal involves a solar field and battery plant tied to Google's West Memphis data center, which is under construction.

According to records obtained by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the contract stipulates a $526 million contribution from Google. However, this figure was not described as being in aid of construction, leaving unclear how much money the company would pay toward the solar and battery facility.

A memo prepared for commissioners at the Public Service Commission raised questions about Google's contribution, stating that it 'doesn't sound like Google is going to pay for the cost of this resource.' The commission approved the special rate contract in November, but much of the hearing was held behind closed doors.
