Google's Services Hit by Widespread Outages on Sunday
Google's suite of services appeared to be experiencing widespread outages on Sunday morning, affecting users worldwide. The issues were first reported around 2 a.m., with Downdetector tracking a significant spike in user-reported problems. By 9 a.m., the number of reports had increased tenfold compared to normal levels.
According to users, Google.com and Gmail failed to load when visited directly through a browser or on apps. YouTube was also affected, with some users reporting that it displayed videos but not thumbnails. Others experienced slow buffering or 'glitchy' video on the platform's TV app.
One user reported difficulties with Google Pay on their cellphone. However, by 10:30 a.m., search results were loading on Google.com, although image searches continued to struggle. As of 6 p.m., Downdetector still showed high levels of reports for the affected services.
