Google has introduced its Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), a new feature that enables 'intelligent shopping' across various platforms, including Search, YouTube, and Gmail. The UCP allows users to save items from anywhere on Google in their 'Universal Cart', which can track deals, monitor price drops, and surface price history insights.

The Universal Cart feature also offers consumers the option to transfer items to a merchant's site for purchase completion. Retailers participating in this program include Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, and Shopify, as well as merchants like Fenty and Steve Madden.

UCP is structured to provide advertisers with higher conversion metrics while preserving their direct customer relationships. Advertisers can integrate UCP into advertising campaigns using Direct Offers or Shopping ads on YouTube, allowing consumers to make purchases immediately.
