State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam clarified that US Special Envoy Sergio Gor's remarks about Bangladesh purchasing more Boeing aircraft may have referred to a previous deal. The comments came after Gor said in a recent social media post that President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had struck 'another incredible Deal' involving Bangladesh's commitment to spend 'Billions of Dollars' on more Boeing aircraft.

Gor also claimed that Bangladesh would 'significantly' increase its initial Boeing order. However, the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry has maintained that no separate Boeing aircraft deal has been signed apart from the 14-aircraft agreement with Boeing in April.

The 14-aircraft agreement covers eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, two 787-9 Dreamliners, and four 737-8 MAX aircraft. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said that Bangladesh views cooperation with the United States from the perspective of its national interest.
