Goyal pitches India as long-term investment hub to global firms
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently traveled to New York to present India as a prime long-term investment destination, targeting key global firms in insurance, financial services, and technology. During his meetings with executives from AIA Group, MetLife, General Atlantic, and IBM, Goyal emphasized India's regulatory reforms, growing demand, digital ecosystem, and technology talent pool as strong incentives for deeper engagement.
In discussions with Mark Tucker, chairman of AIA Group, Goyal highlighted opportunities for expanding investments in India's insurance and financial services sectors. He noted the country's regulatory reforms and rising demand for insurance, aligning with the government's vision of achieving "Insurance for All by 2047." Similarly, Goyal explored growth opportunities with Michel A Khalaf, president and CEO of MetLife, focusing on the expanding insurance sector and rising demand for long-term savings and protection.
Goyal also engaged with William E Ford, chairman and CEO of General Atlantic, discussing ways to deepen business and investment ties in India. His meeting with Arvind Krishna, chairman and CEO of IBM, centered on expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and quantum computing, leveraging India's large talent pool and rapid digital adoption.
