GPS Issue Grounds Hundreds of Embraer Airliners Worldwide

A technical issue affecting GPS navigation has grounded some Embraer Airliners operated by several airlines worldwide. The problem is specific to aircraft equipped with Honeywell's Primus Epic 2.0 avionics, and about 200 E190 and E195-E2 planes are impacted.

The affected airlines include Azur from Brazil, Porter from Canada, and Virgin Australia. Embraer and Honeywell have set up a 'war room' to address the issue and find a solution. The temporary fix involves resetting the avionics, but it only temporarily resolves the problem.

Ebraer assures that even without GPS, the aircraft are safe to fly due to alternative navigation systems and procedures in place. No evidence suggests the issue is related to a cyberattack or any malicious activity.
