A new retail hub is taking shape in San Marcos, Texas, as construction continues on a massive 114,000-square-foot H-E-B grocery store along I-35. The store, which will be the city's third H-E-B location, is expected to open in late 2026 and will feature curbside pickup, home delivery, a pharmacy drive-thru, an in-store bakery, Meal Simple prepared foods, and a Sushiya sushi bar.

The H-E-B store will also introduce new concepts to San Marcos, including the city's first True Texas BBQ restaurant, an H-E-B Fresh Bites convenience store, a fuel station, and a car wash. Meanwhile, next door, the McCarty Commons development is underway, with dirt beginning to turn at the site as the future shopping destination starts taking shape.

The McCarty Commons project will include a 135,918-square-foot Home Depot store, which will be the first major anchor for the development. The Home Depot store will feature a 107,797-square-foot retail floor and a 28,120-square-foot outdoor garden center.
