H5 Gaming Enthusiasts Revealed: Younger Players Prefer Smartphones

A recent survey of over 7,500 people aged 13-55 who play browser-based games at least once a month reveals the demographics and habits of H5 gaming enthusiasts. Conducted in February 2026 by Newzoo and sponsored by Google, the study found that H5 gaming is growing fast, but visits to browser game sites grew only slightly in the first half of 2026.

The survey shows that the share of internet users aged 13-55 who play H5 games is highest in South Korea (54%), India (53%), and Brazil (52%). Browser game players are split evenly between men and women, but Western countries skew slightly female, while Asian countries skew male.

Younger players are more likely to use multiple devices, with only 35% of players aged 13-30 sticking to a single device compared to 60% of those aged 41-55. The most popular device for H5 gaming is smartphones, used by 83% of players, followed by PCs or laptops (53%), tablets (33%), and TVs (11%).
