Microsoft is making another push to bring the Halo franchise to live-action entertainment, nearly two decades after an initial film adaptation stalled.

The Xbox Game Studios' flagship FPS title has seen several attempts at a screen transfer, including a live-action TV series on Paramount+ that was cancelled in 2022. Now, Microsoft is reportedly pitching a package of adaptation rights to over a dozen gaming properties, including Halo, Diablo, and World of Warcraft.

The move comes as the video game adaptation trend continues to heat up in Hollywood, with studios like Netflix and Universal already expressing interest in the franchise. However, the Halo series has faced challenges in the past, failing to satisfy long-term fans or attract a new audience after its initial TV show.
