Hamilton Island Race Week Champions Crowned Across Divisions
The 41st Hamilton Island Race Week presented by American Express has come to an end, crowning champions in various divisions after six days of intense racing. A total of 194 boats and over 1,200 sailors participated, experiencing a range of conditions from strong trade winds and rain squalls to sunshine and shifting breezes.
IKON, skippered by Bruce McCracken, dominated Rating Division 2 under IRC, winning all six races and securing the Leon O'Donoghue Memorial Trophy as Boat of the Week. The team's victory reflected their nearly two decades of sailing experience together.
In Rating Division 1, Sandy Oatley's Wild Oats X emerged victorious in IRC, while Mark Spring's Highly Sprung claimed the TPR title and the Rating Division 1 title under TPR scoring. NSW boats dominated across both divisions, with every podium position filled by New South Wales sailors.
Other notable winners included Team Hollywood in Super 40+, Raymond Roberts' crew securing the IRC title after a strong week of racing. Peter Higgins' Black Sparrow took both the ORC and SFR titles in Super 40+.
