Harley-Davidson Chases 700th Victory at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
The Progressive American Flat Track (AFT) Superstars will be in action at the 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which takes place from August 7-16. The rally is expected to attract over half a million enthusiasts, and the AFT competition will feature two rounds of the Grand National Championship.
The first round, the Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Super TT, will take place on Saturday, August 8, at the historic Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club in Sturgis, South Dakota. This event is a showcase of American motorcycling heritage and features a unique layout with multiple right-hand corners and jumps.
Harley-Davidson is looking to achieve its 700th victory in this class, and riders Kody Kopp and Briar Bauman are leading the charge with nine wins already this season. However, reigning Grand National Champion Dallas Daniels (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07) will be a strong contender to stop their momentum.
Other notable competitors include Davis Fisher (No. 67 Rackley Racing/Bob Lanphere's BMC Racing KTM 790 Duke), who has been on a roll with four consecutive podium finishes, and Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods Honda CB750 Hornet), who is currently ranked fifth in the standings.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is known for its party atmosphere, and this year's event promises to be no exception. The track will host a variety of activities, including a V-Twin Visionary Ride-In Bike Show, a Strider race for kids, and an abundance of food and beverage options.
