Harrison Ford Returns as Indiana Jones for New Disney Attraction
Harrison Ford is returning as Indiana Jones for a new Disney attraction at Walt Disney World. The 'Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent' ride will be part of the Tropical Americas land in Animal Kingdom, which is under construction.
The attraction's storyline features Dr. Jones investigating a mysterious location near a cenote, an underground cave that was once filled with water. According to legend, a passage near the cenote leads directly into the Maya Underworld, protected by the Tsukán, a gigantic serpentine creature.
Riders will be pulled through a portal and dropped into the Underworld, where they'll have to survive monstrous bats, enormous scorpions, fire, snakes, and other dangers. The Tsukán won't be a brief encounter; riders will meet it multiple times throughout the attraction, culminating in a major final confrontation.
Disney Imagineers are putting significant effort into developing the cultural foundation of the attraction, working with archaeologists, anthropologists, and Maya experts to ensure authenticity and accuracy. The team has traveled to locations such as Honduras to research the region's culture, folklore, architecture, and native artistry.
