Hashi Market opens first Seattle store in former Amazon Fresh space
Hashi Market, a Japanese grocery chain, is set to open its first Seattle store in the Aurora neighborhood. The new location will occupy a 35,715-square-foot space in a strip mall at 13025 Aurora Avenue N, previously home to an Amazon Fresh store. The grocer will offer a range of products, including groceries, catering services, lifestyle items, and beauty and home essentials.
The Aurora location is part of Hashi Market's ongoing expansion in the U.S. The company opened its first U.S. store in New York in 2024 and has since grown to nine locations. Plans are in place to add six more stores across California, Colorado, and Massachusetts. The Seattle store will join other tenants in the strip mall, such as Planet Fitness, Ulta Beauty, Ross Dress for Less, and Daiso.
The former Amazon Fresh space in Aurora is the second to be repurposed in recent weeks. On Sept. 28, Starbird Chicken opened in a former Amazon Fresh location in West Seattle. Several other former Amazon Fresh sites remain vacant in the Puget Sound area, including in Seattle’s Central District, Federal Way, and Factoria.
