Hawaiian Airlines will introduce Boeing 737-800 aircraft on its Honolulu, Kahului route, starting from October 3.

The airline will operate these planes in Alaska Airlines livery with three round trips per day. This move is part of the replacement of Boeing 717 aircraft and aims to supplement capacity on interisland routes while maintaining the number of flights.

Boeing 717 aircraft will continue to operate around 140 daily flights on interisland routes, but they are set to be retired in 2028. By then, Hawaiian Airlines will have introduced Boeing 737-800 aircraft in their own livery.

The introduction of the new planes also brings Starlink Wi-Fi to the Honolulu, Kahului route. Another change effective from October 3 is a revised check-in and baggage drop deadline for interisland routes, passengers now have 50 minutes before departure, up from 30 minutes.
