In the 21-second clip, Herbstreit is seen gently petting Peter as the dog slept on a bed inside an airplane. The video was shared on X and included the message: 'Get some sleep while you can Peter... football season is almost here.'

NFL fans responded to the post with mixed reactions, with some expressing their appreciation for Herbstreit's love for his dog while others found it insufferable.

Herbstreit has been taking Peter to various events with him since the death of his older dog Ben in November 2024. The two have become a familiar face on ESPN's College GameDay and Amazon's Thursday Night Football broadcasts.
