High School Football Teams Honor Marc Cisco with Signature Play

On Friday, September 25, 2026, several high school football teams in Monroe County Region paid tribute to legendary coach Marc Cisco by running his signature play, Rip Fly 45. The play was a key component of Cisco's coaching style during his 47 seasons as the head coach at Jefferson.

Cisco passed away on September 22, just three days before the games. As part of the tribute, teams including Monroe, Gibraltar Carlson, Ida, and Jefferson ran Rip Fly 45 as their opening play. The move was a nod to Cisco's legacy and his impact on the school and its football program.

'We have a guy on our stuff, Nate Mills, who played at Jefferson,' said Monroe coach Kyle Reed. 'We actually put it in earlier this season, but we just call it 'Cisco right' or 'Cisco left.'

Cisco's former players and coaches spoke about his influence and the significance of Rip Fly 45. 'It's an identity,' said Gibraltar Carlson coach Jason Gendron, who played for Cisco at Jefferson. 'When you run that and embrace it, it permeates through the program.'
