Hijacked Microsoft Account Touts Crypto Token to Bring Back Clippy
Microsoft's official X account was hijacked on Thursday, used to promote a Clippy-themed crypto token.
The post, which included a picture of Clippy in front of the Windows XP Bliss wallpaper, asked for 500,000 likes to bring back the old Office assistant. The hijackers quoted it with '500,000 likes and we bring Clippy back.'
The Clippy account that was followed by Microsoft's hijacked account posted a picture of Clippy and asked how many likes were needed to bring it back. It claimed that the $Clippy token has a liquidity pool paired directly with $MSFT.
Microsoft confirmed the unauthorized access, removed the posts, and is investigating. The company also deleted a suspicious 'apology' post that appeared on its account, which sounded unnatural and didn't seem like it was written by Microsoft.
