Holiday Shoppers Rely Heavily on AI to Navigate Options
Holiday shopping has undergone a significant shift in recent years, thanks to the rise of AI-powered tools that help consumers explore more options and make informed decisions. According to Think with Google, four key consumer behaviors define this new landscape: expanding options through research and discovery, evaluating options using AI summaries, validating information on Search and YouTube, and enlisting AI for price- and deal-hunting.
Research shows that online shoppers who use AI platforms or features in their journey interact with an average of 12.1 touchpoints, compared to only 4.2 for those who don't use AI. This increased exploration is driven by the ability to search naturally with photos and specific questions, as 75% of Google AI platform users agree that AI allows them to search more intuitively.
To respond to these shifts, brands should prepare for conversational and visual searches, enrich their product data with detailed descriptions and high-resolution images, and focus on creating a stellar web experience. By doing so, they can make the most of their holiday marketing strategy and drive real, confident decisions from consumers.
