Home Depot Awards $4.2 Million in Grants to Under-Resourced Institutions
The Home Depot has awarded its latest Retool Your School grants to 24 historically under-resourced institutions, including Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University. This marks the program's 17th year of celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other underserved schools across the country.
The company invested over $15 million in campus improvements since 2009 through this program. The current class includes 10 Campus Improvement Grants worth $200,000 each and 14 Innovation Lounge Grants up to $75,000.
Malerie Thornton, senior manager of multicultural marketing at The Home Depot, said the goal is not just to make a donation but to create lasting partnerships with the winning schools. Each recipient will be paired with its nearest Home Depot store for ongoing support.
