Home Depot Beats Expectations in Tough Housing Market with 5.7% Sales Growth
Home Depot's (NYSE: HD) shares ended the week on a positive note despite an otherwise challenging housing market. In its most recent quarter, the home improvement retailer reported top and bottom line growth, with sales increasing by 5.7% year-over-year to $47.9 billion in the second quarter of 2026.
The company's comparable sales grew 1.7%, while US comparable sales rose 1.3%. Earnings per share on an adjusted basis climbed 5.1% to $4.92 compared to the same period last year.
Despite market conditions remaining 'frozen' and demand for larger home improvement projects being pressured, customers are still pursuing smaller repair and maintenance projects. This drove broad-based demand across categories such as storage, power, garden, kitchen, and bath during the second quarter.
