Home Depot Customer Waits Weeks for Fridge Replacement After Breakdown
Shannon Elizabeth, a lifestyle content creator from West Virginia, took to TikTok to share her frustrating experience with Home Depot after her fridge broke down. The incident left her with spoiled food and a soaking-wet freezer. Despite having a Home Depot Protection Plan, she found herself trapped in a bureaucratic nightmare, facing weeks without a functional refrigerator.
Shannon's $2,600 LG fridge broke on September 28. After multiple back-and-forths, she was told by the Protection Plan to troubleshoot the issue herself. When she contacted LG, which still had an active five-year warranty on the fridge, she was informed it would take 10 business days to schedule a technician. Dissatisfied with the delay, she emailed Home Depot, calling the situation "unacceptable."
Home Depot eventually offered to send a technician on October 8, but the process involved multiple visits and delays, meaning Shannon would be without a working fridge for weeks. She expressed her frustration, stating, "In what world do you think that’s acceptable for anyone?" Her viral TikTok post garnered over 361,400 views and sparked a wave of similar complaints from viewers.
In an update, Shannon revealed that Home Depot agreed to reimburse her for the broken fridge, but the reimbursement came in the form of gift cards, forcing her to purchase another fridge from Home Depot to avoid losing money.
