Home Depot Draws Fire from Houston Groups Over Possible ICE Collaboration
Houston-based immigrant rights groups are questioning Home Depot's involvement in the arrest of Juan Francisco Monroy Turuy, a 54-year-old man who called the Houston Police Department to report a shooting in a Home Depot parking lot.
Monroy Turuy was detained by ICE officers after calling the police. Organizations such as FIEL Houston and CRECEN are demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding the arrest and whether Home Depot coordinates with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In response, Home Depot stated that it does not coordinate with ICE or Border Patrol and is not involved in immigration enforcement operations.
