Home Depot Expands into Southern Maryland with New Store
The Home Depot is expanding its presence in Maryland by opening its first store in southern Maryland. The retail giant has purchased 13.5 acres within Lexington Exchange, a 140-acre mixed-use park in California, MD. This marks a significant move for the company as it enters a new region.
The site was sold to The Home Depot by Baltimore-based St. John Properties Inc., which is also the master developer of Lexington Exchange. The size and target opening date of the store were not released. However, the project is expected to bring in more retail users, with several pad sites currently being marketed for development.
The Lexington Exchange already features a mix of tenants, including Aldi, Royal Farms, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and RC Theatres. The park offers approximately 600,000 square feet of commercial space, with five buildings spanning 120,000 square feet of flex/research-and-development space and 65,000 square feet of retail.
The Home Depot's new location will serve as a hub for the company in southern Maryland, providing residents with access to a wide range of home improvement products and services. The store is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region.
