Home Depot Partners with The Battery Network for Free Rechargeable Battery Recycling

When it comes to disposing of used batteries, many people are unaware of the risks involved. Placing rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in the trash can lead to a fire that spreads quickly, while alkaline batteries may spark or rupture under pressure.

The Home Depot has been partnering with The Battery Network (formerly known as Call2Recycle) for over two decades to provide a safe and environmentally friendly way to recycle rechargeable batteries. Their program accepts lithium-ion rechargeable designs used in power tools, smartphones, cordless phones, digital cameras, laptops, and other portable electronics.

To participate, simply visit your local Home Depot store with your recyclable batteries and deposit them into the designated recycling bin. The retailer also accepts older nickel-based rechargeable batteries (NiMH and NiCd) as part of the program.
