Home Depot Posts Strong Q2 Earnings Despite 'Frozen Housing Market'
Home Depot's Q2 earnings for 2026 have beaten Wall Street estimates, with revenue rising to $47.9 billion and adjusted earnings per share reaching $4.92.
The company's comparable sales climbed 1.7%, exceeding the expected 0.8% growth, while average transaction sizes increased by nearly 3%. CFO Richard McPhail attributes this success to customers who have money but are hesitant to spend due to inflation, fuel costs, and uncertainty.
Despite operating in a 'frozen housing market', Home Depot has managed to take share from competitors and serve its customers better every day. The company reaffirmed its full-year guidance of 2.5-4.5% sales growth, although this includes refunds tied to US trade policy that should partly offset unplanned costs.
