Microsoft Gaming Division Hit by Mass Layoffs Amid Industry Shift
Microsoft's gaming division in Hunt Valley, Maryland is facing backlash from employees after mass layoffs were announced. The cuts affected 3,200 people across its XBOX division, with a total of 4,800 jobs eliminated company-wide.
According to ZeniMax Web Content Editor Jordan Goldfarb, the job market is not favorable for those impacted by the layoffs. 'It's been rough; the job market right now is not a good place to be,' he said.
A blog post from Executive Vice President Amy Coleman explained that the company is adapting to changing industry trends and customer needs. XBOX CEO Asha Sharma added, 'Our business today is not healthy... We must reset XBOX.'
However, Goldfarb disputes this claim, pointing out that Xbox generated $22 billion in revenue last year. He also noted that Microsoft CEO's salary was over $90 million.
