Home Depot Rolls Out Nationwide Express Delivery Service
Home Depot has rolled out its Express Delivery service nationwide, offering rapid delivery of trade products and materials for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. The service allows items to be delivered directly to homes and job sites in three hours or less for a small flat fee per order.
To support this new service, Home Depot plans to use its existing 2,350 retail stores as neighborhood fulfillment 'hubs' to source and distribute products. This strategy makes sense given that around 90% of the US population lives within 10 miles of a Home Depot store.
However, this begs the question: will Home Depot need to modify or enlarge its stores to accommodate Express Delivery? Other retailers have used a similar 'stores-as-a-delivery-hub' model and are opening new, larger stores specifically for delivery purposes. For example, AutoZone has opened Big Box Mega Hubs that are five times the size of standard auto parts stores.
Home Depot may need to repurpose its real estate or operations to provide this service efficiently. The company already has a strong presence in the US market with a large store network and a well-established logistics system. In fact, over 55% of Home Depot's in-stock SKUs were delivered via same- or next-day delivery in 2025, more than three times its 2022 rate.
