Home Depot Thief Sentenced to Up to Three Years in Prison

Boston's South Bay Mall Home Depot stores were repeatedly targeted by Jeramie Croft, 42, in a string of thefts that spanned several months. Between February and March 2025, Croft committed larceny on seven separate occasions, with the total value of stolen merchandise totaling around $7,000.

Croft was captured on surveillance footage wheeling hundreds or even thousands of dollars' worth of items out of the store in large trash barrels. In one instance, he stole two drill combination kits valued at $798 and returned to the store the following day, stating that he would be back to steal more items.

Croft's lengthy history of shoplifting and trespassing landed him a prison sentence of up to three years in state prison. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden stated that Croft 'presents a clear threat to our retail community' and that the prison sentence was entirely justified by his repeated offenses.
