Honeywell Aerospace Hits Milestone in EU-Funded Project NEWBORN
Honeywell Aerospace's team in Brno has made significant progress on Project NEWBORN, an EU-funded initiative to develop zero-emission propulsion technologies for aircraft.
Launched in 2023, the project brings together 18 companies from 10 European countries to create a megawatt-class hydrogen fuel-cell propulsion system.
The team has successfully integrated key subsystems of Project NEWBORN into a functional hydrogen power source capable of generating and supplying electrical energy for an aircraft.
Next steps include a full integrated ground demonstration, where the hydrogen power source and batteries will drive an electric motor connected to an aircraft propeller. The engineering team developed a dedicated platform at the ÚJV Řež research facility near Prague to support testing.
