NATO Days is exploring the future of modern conflicts and defense technologies, highlighting the importance of technological sovereignty in Europe's security. Honeywell Aerospace, a main partner at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days, is building an indigenous defense approach centered on this principle.

The company aims to develop European research, development, and manufacturing capabilities to ensure critical technologies, know-how, and data remain under European control.

Honeywell Aerospace has extensive research and development (R&D) capabilities in the Czech Republic, with R&D centers in Brno and Prague working on hardware and software solutions for aerospace, defense, and space applications. The company's manufacturing facility in Hlubočky near Olomouc manufactures components for advanced aerospace programs, including fifth-generation aircraft.

Tomáš Szaszi, Director of Strategy, Global R&D and Indigenous Defense at Honeywell Aerospace, emphasizes the importance of European intellectual property and robust safeguards to ensure data remain within the EU. The company has over a thousand engineers and scientists across its centers in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Italy.

Honeywell Aerospace is developing resilient navigation technologies, such as the iTALIN 550 tactical navigator for ground vehicles and the One Box system, which integrates multiple functions into a single hardware platform to save space and weight. The company also develops miniFMS (Flight Management System) and compact flight control systems.

Zuzana Cizmarova, European Lead for Industrial Cooperation at Honeywell Aerospace, stresses that technological self-reliance requires connecting international programs with local companies, academia, and expertise to share know-how and strengthen Europe's capabilities over the long term.
