Honeywell Aerospace Settles $2M+ Cybersecurity Claim with US Government
A government contractor has agreed to pay over $2 million to settle allegations that it failed to meet cybersecurity standards on contracts with the Department of Defense.
Honeywell Aerospace, an Arizona-based company, provided quantum computing services to the government but allegedly did not implement required cybersecurity controls, such as protecting controlled unclassified information (CUI) hosted on its electronic network. The company's IT employee filed a qui tam complaint after being allegedly constructively discharged for raising concerns about the company's cybersecurity compliance.
The settlement serves as a reminder that the government continues to prioritize cybersecurity enforcement and will investigate potential violations of these requirements to protect sensitive information.
