Honeywell Brings Smart Building Tech to L&T Realty's Mumbai and Chennai Projects
Honeywell Technologies has been chosen to implement its Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) across L&T Realty's luxury housing and commercial projects in Mumbai and Chennai. This deployment also includes Honeywell Technologies Forge, marking one of its first large-scale uses in India's multi-family housing sector. The IBMS will integrate safety, security, video surveillance, and building automation, providing operators with near real-time visibility into building operations.
The system aims to improve operational efficiency, energy performance, safety, and occupant comfort. Honeywell Technologies Forge will serve as an intelligence layer, offering real-time monitoring of building performance and system health. This integration is expected to help identify issues earlier, coordinate responses across systems, and enhance emergency response times, though specific energy savings and cost reductions were not quantified.
The inclusion of residential projects is notable, as connected building platforms have traditionally been more common in commercial properties. The technology extends beyond consumer-facing applications to encompass the entire property's monitoring and operation. Munish Suri, President of Building Automation at Honeywell Technologies, highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration in delivering smarter, safer, and more connected buildings.
The deployment creates a common technology framework for L&T Realty's residential and commercial developments in Mumbai and Chennai. However, details such as the financial value of the contract, the number of projects, implementation timeline, and specific performance targets were not disclosed, making it difficult to assess the full scale and impact of the deployment.
