Honeywell CEO Vimal Kapur shared his reflections on cultural identity and life in the US during a candid conversation with Shereen Bhan. Kapur, who has lived in the US for over 12 years, acknowledged that while he remains Indian at heart, he has adopted many Americanized traits. He highlighted the contrast between the structured, process-driven lifestyle in the US and the more fluid, relationship-centered way of life in India.

Kapur, who left India at the age of 44, expressed nostalgia for the relationships and friendships he left behind. He noted that the US has made him more time-disciplined, with a strong emphasis on schedules and processes. In contrast, he described India as a place where things often happen spontaneously, despite uncertainties, a dynamic he finds both charming and challenging.

The conversation took place just a week before Diwali, a festival that holds personal significance for Kapur, who grew up between Amritsar and Patiala. He reflected on the cultural shift he has experienced, acknowledging that while he appreciates the efficiency of American life, he still misses the warmth and spontaneity of Indian culture.
