Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ:HON) raised its full-year profit and sales outlook after completing the spin-off of its aerospace business, shifting to a pure-play automation enterprise. The company reported an order backlog of nearly $19 billion in the third quarter of 2026, reflecting strong demand across key sectors.
Management highlighted three key takeaways from the earnings call. First, the process automation order backlog signals a multiyear energy expansion, driven by industrial customers in the Middle East and Africa investing in plant upgrades. This investment is expected to fuel a meaningful energy upcycle over the next several years, according to Chairman and CEO Vimal Kapur.
Second, Honeywell eliminated stranded corporate overhead costs six months ahead of schedule, expanding profit margins by nearly four percentage points to over 21%. This rapid cost takeout is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, demonstrating strong execution capabilities.
Third, data center infrastructure demand drove double-digit order growth, with year-to-date orders growing over 100%. Honeywell is capitalizing on this boom by bundling its physical equipment with Forge, its internal software platform, to secure higher recurring revenue and deepen customer lock-in.
Looking ahead, order velocity across energy infrastructure and data centers is accelerating, pushing free cash flow conversion to 95% in Q3. Honeywell expects this to exceed 100% in Q4, with rapid debt reduction expanding balance sheet flexibility and potential for mergers and acquisitions.
