Honeywell Teams Up on Fuel Cell Powertrain for Future Flight Tests
Honeywell Aerospace is developing a fuel cell powertrain that could potentially be used in future flight tests. The company's project, called NEWBORN, involves a full propulsion system with a Pipistrel-designed battery pack and an electric motor from the University of Nottingham.
The 1MW-class demonstrator has been running since August as part of the Clean Aviation-funded initiative. It is being readied for later trials of the full integrated propulsion system.
