House Dems Probe Labor Board Lawyer Over Amazon Deal Settlements
US lawmakers are scrutinizing National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Crystal Carey over settlements she made with Amazon.com Inc. in labor disputes.
The probe, led by Reps. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) and John Mannion (D-N.Y.), centers on a series of agreements reached by Carey's office to resolve unfair labor practice allegations against Amazon.
Scott and Mannion expressed concerns about the decision-making process behind these settlements in a letter sent on September 1, citing 'serious questions and concerns' about standards for approving deals.
The investigation comes after a June oversight hearing during which House Democrats pressed Carey over a proposed settlement involving allegations Amazon was a joint employer of subcontracted delivery workers.
