HPB stock dips 2.4% despite long-term Visa deal and growth plans
Shares of Hrvatska poštanska banka (HPB) dropped 2.4% on October 3, 2026, closing at EUR 330.00 and reducing the Croatian bank's market capitalization to EUR 668.1 million. The decline came despite a significant long-term deal with Visa, announced on September 24, 2026, which extends their partnership through March 31, 2033.
The six-year Visa agreement, effective April 1, 2027, focuses on digitalization, transaction security, and fraud prevention. While the deal provides operational milestones, its financial impact will depend on future card-business growth and the success of planned technology investments.
HPB is also expanding through acquisitions, having completed the purchase of Croatia Banka. The deal, finalized in early September 2026, adds to the bank's domestic growth strategy. Additionally, HPB recently secured a EUR 2.13 billion loan agreement with Croatian motorways, marking the largest single lending deal in its corporate history.
Despite the stock's recent dip, HPB's long-term outlook includes strategic initiatives in payment technology, bank consolidation, and infrastructure financing. The bank is set to pay a EUR 17.54 cash dividend on January 28, 2027, with the entitlement date on July 30, 2026. HPB trades on the Zagreb Stock Exchange under the ticker HPB and is included in key indices such as CROBEX.
