Huang Compares AI Infrastructure to Electricity and Roads
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently made a compelling case for thinking about AI infrastructure as something fundamental to the economy. He likened the systems needed to develop and run AI to essential infrastructure, such as electricity, roads, water, and the internet.
Huang argued that if countries are held back by fear or overregulation, especially when it comes to deploying AI, they could easily fall behind. His main point was that governments should invest in building up local capabilities that support researchers, students, and startups, instead of letting AI development stay concentrated among just a handful of big global tech firms.
Huang also emphasized the importance of regulation based on real risks to promote safe AI deployment. He suggested that countries should focus on their genuine strengths instead of trying to control every part of the AI 'stack.'
