Huang Dismisses AI Apocalypse: '0% Chance' of World Destruction by 2030
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang has weighed in on the AI doomsday debate, saying there is '0% chance' that artificial intelligence will destroy humanity by 2030.
Huang made his comments during a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, responding to claims from Evan Hubinger, a former Anthropic researcher who put AI's odds of destroying all humans above 10% in the next decade.
Hubinger claimed that 'full recursive self-improvement' could result in humans losing control over AI systems. Huang disagrees, saying companies shouldn't release AI products before they're proven safe and that government regulation beyond what already exists isn't necessary.
Nvidia has made AI the center of its business, and the technology's success is key to the company's future growth. The tech giant recently acquired Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, and OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra, which it labeled as the start of its 'AGI era.'
