Huang Dismisses AI Existential Threat Claims as 'Pure Fiction'

Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang has dismissed warnings that AI could pose an existential threat to humanity by 2030, calling such claims 'pure fiction' with 'zero chance' of coming true. During a recent interview with CBS, Huang emphasized that there is no scientific basis for fearing that advanced AI will end human life by the end of the decade.

Huang's comments follow warnings from Jacob Coxon, a former researcher at Anthropic and OpenAI, who expressed concerns about rapid technological advancement potentially causing AI to slip out of human control. However, Huang emphasized that Nvidia's primary performance metric centers on how safely and effectively its AI systems can be deployed.

Huang also addressed calls for tighter regulation or developmental pauses, stating that extra legislation is unnecessary and aligning with US President Donald Trump in maintaining that current policy frameworks are sufficient.
