Huang Seeks US-China Cooperation on AI Research
Nvidia founder Jensen Huang has called on the US and China to improve communication and cooperate on artificial intelligence (AI) research, emphasizing that competition between countries does not preclude cooperation in technology safety.
Huang stressed that AI has significant potential to bring benefits but dialogue and cooperation are needed to prevent harm. He noted that AI risks should not be addressed by restraining technology but rather by accelerating the development of safety tools, much like how cars have evolved with airbags, sensors, and collision-prevention systems.
Huang also introduced Nvidia's Open Agent Safety Platform, a collaborative effort with over 100 partners to track every action of AI agents and apply established rules. He believes that allowing companies to purchase Nvidia chips again could be beneficial for China's digital economy, which is currently hindered by a shortage of computing capacity.
Huang acknowledged the need for better communication between technology companies and local communities regarding data center construction projects, suggesting that involving residents in discussions would promote their success and prosperity.
