Huang vs Amodei: AI Safety Dispute Heats Up

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has sparked controversy by downplaying concerns over AI safety. He stated that companies should be responsible for ensuring their products are safe, saying 'if you build a product or a service and you're not confident in its functionality, capability or safety, then don't release it.'

Huang's comments were echoed by other Republicans, including Trump AI adviser David Sacks and House Speaker Mike Johnson. Huang also dismissed fears that AI could automate jobs, calling them 'completely nonsense.'

In contrast, Amodei from OpenAI advocated for more guardrails and third-party safety assessments, saying 'let's organize the rest of the industry and say, what can we do to set standards for everyone?'
