Huawei and DeepSeek Launch Chip Ecosystem Challenge to Nvidia
Nvidia's dominance in the AI chip market is facing a new challenge from Chinese tech giant Huawei and programming tools provider DeepSeek. According to Reuters, DeepSeek has opened up Huawei's Ascend platform's computing and communications libraries to developers.
This move is significant because it targets one of Nvidia's key advantages: its CUDA software framework for creating apps compatible with its GPUs. DeepSeek and Huawei are developing a Huawei chip ecosystem, which includes programming tools that may simplify code and boost development efficiency compared to Nvidia's CUDA.
The two organizations have already demonstrated their capabilities by building a supernode using 128 Huawei Ascend 950 processors, with Huawei supporting computation and communication optimization.
