Huawei Challenges Nvidia with New AI Chips and UnifiedBus Technology
Huawei is expanding its efforts to reduce China's reliance on foreign AI hardware and software. The company has announced plans to release two new AI chips, the 960DT and Ascend 960PR, in 2027.
The 960DT will arrive in the first quarter of next year, while the Ascend 960PR is scheduled for the third quarter. However, Huawei's real innovation lies in its UnifiedBus technology, which enables the connection of large numbers of AI processors to work together as a single computing system.
Huawei aims to connect up to one million AI processors using this technology, creating massive systems that can tackle complex tasks. The company has already developed 11 semiconductors based on UnifiedBus and has shipped over 1,000 supernodes to more than 370 customers.
