UnitedHealthcare has named Robert Hunter as its new president, tasked with spearheading the company's 'modernization agenda'.

Hunter, who has spent 15 years at UnitedHealthcare and held various roles including CEO of government programs, will focus on connecting healthcare services, making them easier to navigate, and simpler to understand.

The leadership change comes as UnitedHealth faces intense scrutiny from consumers, lawmakers, and a federal watchdog amidst declining public trust in insurers.

UnitedHealthcare is also embarking on a multi-year margin recovery plan to resuscitate profits in its Medicare Advantage plans, which have become less profitable due to increased care utilization and reimbursement pressures.
