Hurly-Burly Lounge at Disney's BoardWalk Unveils Hidden Storytelling Details
Imagineers at Walt Disney World's BoardWalk have created a new lounge called Hurly-Burly, which is themed as a former vaudeville theater. The design team aimed to create an immersive experience by hiding storytelling details throughout the space. Before entering the lounge, guests can notice ocean-inspired exterior details such as wave patterns and seashell trim.
Inside, bulletin boards in a back hallway contain old audition notices, theater sign-in sheets, notes from performers, and advertisements for other businesses around BoardWalk. These details help make Hurly-Burly feel like an actual theater that has been part of the area for years.
The lounge's backstory centers on Polly Delmar, a fictional star whose career is represented through costumes, props, posters, and personal belongings scattered throughout the space. The nautical theme continues throughout the decor, with elements such as seashell-shaped lights and ship wheels having connections to Hurly-Burly's theatrical past.
