The ad-tech industry is facing significant challenges as it tries to adapt to Google's Privacy Sandbox tool, which aims to eliminate cookie tracking from Chrome browser. The IAB Tech Lab, a trade group funded by its members, has identified major issues with the tool in early tests.

According to Anthony Katsur, CEO of IAB Tech Lab, the shift to Privacy Sandbox is a 'massive sea-change' for the industry, which must adapt quickly. He noted that there are real challenges when supporting high-value ad formats like digital video, and competitive ad separation does not work as it should.

The working group has also raised concerns around brand safety, traditional ad fraud, and potential new types of fraud. Katsur emphasized that the tests are ongoing and that the analysis is not yet finalized.
